Drive to the Beach : Plotting

Image
https://www.hdwallpapers.in/cool_beach-wallpapers.html The drive to Fort Myers Beach is an episode that I have every weekend if we do not have practice or games. The drive is an experience itself to go along with the adventures we end up having at the beach.  I gather up my willing teammates on our days off and ask them if they want to go to the beach. Most of them turn down this offer but a few think it's a good idea and come along. We pack up our beach essentials which include a chair, a cooler, sunblock, and a speaker of course! We load up the Jeep and off we go fifteen minutes down the road. The beach is about five miles from the dorms, where we live, so it is nice to be a driving distance away from the beach. Right before you approach the bridge we hit traffic. What is Florida without traffic, it would not be Florida. A quick green light flips to red and I slam on my breaks. I hear laughs from my teammates and I look over and she dumped her water bottle all in the floorb...

Poetic License

Taking One for the Team BY  SARA HOLBROOK We practiced together, sweat and stained. We pummeled each other and laughed off pain. Teams may disagree, may tease, may blame. Teams may bicker and whine, but get down for the game. You had my back. We fought the fight. And though our score was less last night, we're walking tall. Our team came through and stuck together like Crazy Glue. I'm proud to say I lost with you. https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/58548/taking-one-for-the-team  The message I took away from reading this poem was a college team or in my situation my softball team at Florida SouthWestern. Right off the bat, the first line stuck out because we practice as a team for six days a week. We have gone through conditioning, lifts, and hours of practice with each other but at the end of the day, we all went through it. We all struggled during the day at some point. We have had our differences throughout the day. We are all on the same team and we treat each ot...

Architectural Interiors : Module 5

Image
A piece of domestic architecture that really fascinates me is how the City Of Palms is set up. This is a baseball and softball stadium for the FSW softball and baseball team. It was originally the Red Sox spring training facility but FSW took over in 2014. This building can seat up to 8,000 people. The City of Palms building itself has multiple rooms includes press boxes and club seating. the architecture is shaped in a "U" form because it outlines the baseball field that sits in the middle of the building. Surrounded by palm trees and gates, the facility stands three stories tall. The way the rooms are divided up is there are two parts on the inside of the building. One on the outside which is what you see above, and then the inside section where the fans sit, press boxes, and others. In between these two sections of the building is a pathway with three entryways to the stands, concession stands, and public restrooms. I think it is designed very organized and convenient fo...

Fort Myers Fire Dance: module 4

Image
http://www.artswfl.com/public-art-2/fort-myers-river-district-public-art-2/fire-dance/fire-dance      This piece of public art is something I see quite often because it is a five-minute drive from the city of palms, where I practice every day. The piece was named the Fire Dance and was sculpted by a man named David Black. He said that the sculpture is used to inspire others. David Black created this sculpture with lots of spirals, circles, and counterbalances. The subject black puts his sculpture in is called "proto-architect". This means it contains shapes such as arches, pillars, and canopies. The Fire Dance sculpture sits about 25 feet, taller than the surrounding palm trees, and is a fire red aluminum color. Its purpose is to inspire people to become engineers, architects, and visual artists. all of the cuts outs of the sculptor allow spectators to walk underneath and through the sculptor completely. The way the Florida sunlight hits this sculptor is amazing bec...

The Red Dragon: module 3

https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/490003 Animated Landscape 1927 Joan Miró The Landscape painting was painted with oil on a canvas. This painting was painted by a Spanish man named, Joan Miró in 1927. Through the sensa on this painting, I think the light shines through from the yellow. I think it draws out the from the brown in the painting and makes the eye float from the brown to the green and blue above. The dragon-like creature in the corner also caught my eye because of the red. The way that the sensa is broken up in this picture really stood out to me because of the yellow and the red that is very vivid against the brown, blue, and green. The block of blue and green reminds me of grass and a lake. The texture on the brown part reminds me of dirt. The brown part is a hole of some sort and the yellow is from the light outside. The texture in the green makes me think this painting was meant to be some sort of outside landscape keyhole perspective. In this painting...

Representative Work: The child at the beach

Head First Or Toes First?  Painting: Tome Browning Emily Perrin This painting was painted by a man named Tom Browning. There is no title for this painting which I thought what better painting to describe me. My name is Emily Perrin and I am 19 years old.  My style, values, and taste are represented in this painting all too well. My style would be considered very laid back and beachy. Like this little girl, I also have bleach blonde hair, I have always had bleached blonde hair so I considered part of my style. I was raised in North Georgia just dreaming of the day I could move down to Florida and become this beach girl I had planned out in my head. My taste is described in this painting by the way she is showing attitude toward the water. Now, I can tell if she is unsure of the water or if it touching her toes but either way this little girl has a bit of sass to her. I am a bit sassy wether I want to admit that or not but I am a very outgoing person with a little bit of ...
